A neurotic slackers haphazard quest for self improvement...

"New Year, New You" As one felonious homemaker might say...

I moved to New York in June in an effort to pursue photography, as so many do. Reality check six months later: I'm a 26 year old waitress, working my ass off just to scrape enough cash together to pay my rent ............................................................ So in an effort to help deal with this melancholic existence I find my self occasionally, more often than not, staying up all night, spending money I clearly don't have and indulging in the comfort of spirits.... Just a light aperitif, followed by several digestifs (whether or not a meal finds it's way in between the two is neither here nor there.) ............................................................. According to my father, I've been a "Highly Functioning Alcoholic for years." He says Potato, I say Potato, at least the word "functioning" is in there, right? Problem is, New Years rolled around..again! And with all that champagne came the necessity for Resolution....After ending my Thanksgiving to Christmas Day bender with bathroom tile marks slapped across my face and an outbox filled with undoubtedly regretted messages, the words Physical and Mental DETOX came to mind. ................................................................
No I'm not checking myself into Betty Ford, can't afford it, and rehab is so cliche - but I am giving up three things I hold dear to my heart. Booze, Coffee, and Men for one month (the latter may be negotiable). I'm replacing fatty foods with fruits and Vegetables, couch time with Hot Yoga (sweating just thinking about it), and the failed pursuit of men, with an attempt at professional prowess. .............................................................. While I'm sure I will regret this tomorrow, I figure in this day and age there is no better way to make my self, make shit happen than by publishing it online for all to judge... So to all the fellow degenerates, and boozers, slackers and sluts, to the overweight and underpaid, to the lost and to the lonely, this is for you...well no, that's a lie, it's for me - BUT if it works may you seek inspiration, or at least a little humor in my trials and tribulations...I'll see you on the other side!
